Yoga
I became serious about my Yoga practice in January of 1999. I had been a fitness runner and my body was imbalanced with strong leg muscles in front and weaker, tight muscles in back. Worse yet, I had become a constant worrier, my sleep was disrupted, my mind distracted. I thank my early teachers with all my heart for their kindness and patience. I am a Registered Nurse and have worked in various aspects of the health field for almost 40 years. Gradually, I began wondering how I could integrate the healing benefits of Yoga I had experienced with nursing. In 2003 I attended the Yoga Journal Conference In Colorado. My goal was to talk with as many teachers as possible hoping to discover the right path for me. It was a wonderful and full week as I tried to experience a full range of the flavors of Yoga. I embarked on a nine month, 200 hour teacher training in Seattle at Whole Life Yoga, in the ViniYoga tradition (I bow in gratitude for personal growth and learning). In October of 2004 I was registered with Yoga alliance. As with most educational experiences I have found, completing one step leads to a greater thirst for more knowledge. I studied hundreds of hours of Anusara Yoga with John Friend and through Seattle Yoga Arts immersions and teacher trainings and with Alexis Britton. I have studied anatomy and therapeutics with Martin Kirk. I earned the designation of "Anusara Inspired" while continuing to study toward certification. With the changes in the Anusara school of Yoga my path changed again. Through Yoga Alliance I am a Registered Yoga teacher (RYT) at the 500 hour level. I continue to learn through attending classes & workshops and through my own practice. My classes are fun, safe and uplifting, aiming to integrate body, mind and Spirit while learning about your own anatomy and alignment. My heart's desire is to bring health, peacefulness & joy to others through Yoga practice. May we discover & grow together! Namaste
